1. Can you register my domain name ?

Yes, we can help you with registering your domain name. If we do the domain name will be registered in your name which will give you total control of your site.

2. How long can I keep a domain name ?

When a domain name is registered it is purchased for a set period of time, usually 1-10 years, during which you own the right to use the name.  The person who originally registered the name will be given the option to renew the registration on payment of a renewal fee.

3. What is the difference between a web designer and a web developer ?

A designer usually has a graphic design background and may also work with print publications. A developer has more of a programming background. Both will be able to create your website and many are competent at both skills.

4. Do you provide a hosting service ?

No, but we will make recommendations of a hosting company depending on what you want to do with your website. Hosting for a basic site costs about £30p.a For more complex sites there is an initial one-off fee plus a monthly fee in the region of £7-£100.

5. What testing will I be expected to do on the website ?

At MELLOWEB we test your site to make sure that it will display properly on some of the most popular browsers. We give you a copy of your site to test before it goes live, that way you can make any final tweaks to the design and content. You should use this opportunity to check your content for accuracy, spelling and completeness. All links should work and there should be no missing graphics. If your site is integrated with your back office you should check that information being sent and received is accurate,

6. What after sales support do you provide ?

For all sites any small changes to the site are covered free of charge for the first two month. After this time amendments will be made on a time/cost basis. If you know you will need regular updates to your site then a support agreement can be arranged.

7. What is search engine optimisation ?

Search Engine Optimisation is a process or strategy to improve a webpage’s ranking on a search engine results page.  The factors involved in optimising a website include the content and structure of the website's copy and page layout and the submission process.  The higher a Web site ranks in the results of a search, the greater the chance that your site will be found by a search user.  

As search engines have advanced and the algorithms used to get a page ranking more complex a whole new industry has build up around the subject.  However, no-one can promise you the number 1 slot, and certainly if they do to maintain it needs constant vigilance, as the latest theories and algorithms on how search engines work is constantly changing

There are a number of ways that you can help to ensure your ranking is high by using key words, well structured content, coding and navigational links as well as submitting your site to the search engines. At MELLOWEB all our sites are designed and coded to help with search engine optimisation.
